Traditionally, golden milk/ turmeric milk has been used for colds, congestion, headache, and sore throats. Turmeric is a natural anti-depressant and has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.
Here is the recipe:
•2 cups of milk, rice milk, almond milk, hemp or coconut milk
•1 teaspoon dried turmeric (or one-half inch fresh turmeric thinly sliced or diced)
•1 teaspoon dried ginger (or one-half inch fresh ginger thinly sliced or diced)
•A sprinkle of black pepper (optional)
•Honey to taste
1.Place milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
2.Add turmeric, ginger, and pepper and stir well.
3.Let the milk begin to simmer and stir.
4.Allow it to heat for another minute or two.
5.Turn off heat, cover, and allow the mixture to cool down.
6.Strain the milk through a strainer if you have used fresh ingredients.
